Coaching Mission-Driven Start-Ups and Supporting the Development of Innovative Solutions to Homelessness
Partnering with Crisis’ Venture Studio to tackle homelessness by developing housing solutions and mentoring start-ups driving social impact.
Context
We are a programme partner of the Venture Studio from Crisis, an award-winning innovative team that is on a mission to end homelessness by investing in, building and scaling ventures that look to achieve this outcome.
We partner with Crisis on a number of areas to support the Venture Studio team, their portfolio of investments, and their community at large. We believe that the work that Crisis, and the Venture Studio, do is crucial to supporting our communities and improving outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals across the UK. We are privileged to be able to support them in their mission.
Approach
Developing Innovative Ventures to Increase National Housing Supply
We supported the team at Crisis to establish and validate ideas and propositions that tackled opportunities to increase the overall housing supply in the UK. This was an innovative topic that reimagined Crisis’ role as a potential provider of housing stock that could be made available to those in most need. Across several workshops, we explored a wide array of possibilities, before refining and prioritising.
Coaching and Mentoring Start-ups in the Venture Studio Portfolio
Our team provides ad hoc start-up coaching to the Venture Studio’s portfolio of start-ups, as well as the wider community that are engaged in tackling homelessness. It is fantastic to be able to work with such talented, motivated and passionate people, some with a lived experience of homelessness, to deliver meaningful impact.
We are proud to partner with the team and their wider ecosystem in this important and exciting endeavour. You can find out more about the Venture Studio’s mission and impact by reading their latest Impact Report here.
Impact
These were then validated with the Skylight Directors group, responsible for delivering Crisis services on the frontline of the homelessness challenge, to ensure that the ideas taken forward were both able to deliver impact broadly and that Crisis was leveraging it’s position in the right way. A number of these ideas are now under development for operationalisation.
